Sorceress (Witch Child, #2)
Not as good as Witch Child but still an enjoyable book by Celia Rees. The story of Agnes and Mary worked well and the insight into the path Mary travelled was exciting and upsetting at times too.
The French Maid
A very short e-book. I liked the character Babette , a kind of nanny McPhee for the aristocrats. The main characters were sweet and clueless and with the aid of Babette , able to realize they loved each other at the last possible moment. |
The Perfect Hero
A truly lovely book. The characters were lovely and felt like friends and I think Jane Austen would have been pleased at the modern twist to this novel. Although persuasion is mentioned continuously and key to the plot, The Perfect Hero stands on it's own merits. Victoria Connelly has written a very pleasurable read again and if you haven't read this or her other novel Weekend With Mr Darcy ten you should. |
Long division by Sarah Harvey
This was a odd little book, and not what I expected when I turned the pages.
The main character Fliss is charming and funny and somehow finds herself in situations that are out of the ordinary. Her life is one-stop roller coaster from canceling her wedding, seeing her sister marrying her ditched fiancee instead and her abysmal mother making her life hell.
Her friends also add chaos to her life, including an orgy that leaves Fliss running for cover.
An introduction of a gorgeous but married man adds further dilemmas to Fliss's life.
This book turned into a delightful read and I would recommend it to any that love chick lit style books

An Autumn Crush. by Milly Johnson
A fun read. Milly Johnson has written a charming novel. The characters Steve and Juliet were amusing and their path though somewhat unsmooth takes a surprising step. The introduction of Floz as a flatmate makes entertaining if disturbingly nervy when her so called love takes a horrible yet poignant turn. The luscious Guy, twin brother to Juliet is charming , funny and despairingly nervous around Floz. Inheritance
This is not the best book I have read. In some ways the story was uncomfortable. The characters had a unflattering light to them, the only redeeming character was the old man, whose life had been tormented by someone he thought was a friend. The main character's discovery of a mystery and also of himself made the book slightly better, but in all it was disappointing as I found it hard to care about any of the characters. |
The House of the Wind
Really enjoyed this book. Three very different but strong women have their story told throughout this book. The character of Mia is enchanting and you get to see her grow throughout the chapters of the book. This story is stein the past and the present. This story is stein the past and the present. The present day story of Madeline finding herself again after experiencing a tragedy that destroys her faith in life. The introduction of Soren in madeline's life is not only a catalyst in Madeline retracing steps of the mystery of the three female skeleton's found, but also a search that gives her many answers . The description of Tuscany was powerful and allowed you to escape into your imagination whilst reading Titania Hardie's novel. The ending of the novel was satisfying in not only the discovery and solution to the skeletons discovered, but also the relationships that developed throughout the book. The experiences of friendship, love and loss in the book are heartfelt and comforting. If you love history , mystery and friendship , this book is for you. |
